• Hello,

    I started using the templates in Wordfence Central today and they are very useful.
    But I found an annoying problem with template sync.

    On some sites, after a few minutes, the message “Local Changes” is displayed in the “Sync State” column.

    When I click “Review changes” to see what has changed, the same two settings always appear:

    Scan Schedule
    - []
    + []
    Allowlisted services
    - { "sucuri": true, "facebook": true, "uptimerobot": true, "statuscake": true, "managewp": true, "seznam": true }
    + {"sucuri":true,"facebook":true,"uptimerobot":true,"statuscake":true,"managewp":true,"seznam":true}

    By checking in the back-office, the settings are identical to the template.

    It seems that Wordfence Central is reporting a false change related to the presence of spaces in the value stored for “Allowlisted services”.
    For “Scan Schedule” I have no idea what is causing the problem.

    Do you have a solution to fix this?
    It’s annoying because I have to constantly check whether there have really been changes or not, and it’s complicated with 125 synchronized sites.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @pierreripka,

    Thanks for reaching out to us.

    You can try duplicating your existing templates and re-assigning them to your sites. Then, sync everything again. Sometimes “older” templates can fail to sync properly with certain fields in more up-to-date local versions of Wordfence when sites update over time.

    If that reverts back to “Local changes” again, you can send your diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence.com. The link to do so is at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on Send Report by Email. Please add your forum username (@pierreripka) where indicated and respond here after you have sent it, so we can be on the lookout for it.

    Let me know if that works for you.

    Thanks,
    Tiffany

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply!

    This is exactly what I tried to do earlier today and everything seems to work, so far I don’t have any new “Local changes”.

    Thanks!

    Hi @wftiffany,

    I reopen this topic because the issue is happening again.
    Except that this time, the template duplication does not solve anything.
    After a few minutes, some of the websites have the “Local Changes” state again.

    The fields where the problem occurs are always the same: “Scan Schedule”, “Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules” and “Allowlisted services”:

    Scan Schedule
    - []
    + {}
    Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules
    - 217.x.x.x,141.x.x.x
    + 217.x.x.x 141.x.x.x
    Allowlisted services
    - { "sucuri": true, "facebook": true, "uptimerobot": true, "statuscake": true, "managewp": true, "seznam": true }
    + {"sucuri":true,"facebook":true,"uptimerobot":true,"statuscake":true,"managewp":true,"seznam":true}

    The bug seems to come from the separators (spaces, commas).

    What can I do to prevent the “Local changes” state from constantly coming back?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @pierreripka,

    Thanks for reaching out! Can you send in your diagnostics file so I can take a closer look?

    1. Navigate to Wordfence > Tools.
    2. Select the Diagnostics tab.
    3. At the top, select the button that says “Send Report by Email.”
    Change the email address to [email protected] and please provide your username (pierreripka) so we know who the mail is coming from.
    4. Please reply to this ticket when you have sent the diagnostics. Also for the fastest response time, please add any information or questions directly to this thread and not the email address above.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @wftiffany,

    I already sent a report on September 5th.
    I had then edited my message to make it clear to you, I don’t know why this modification was not saved, sorry!

    I just sent 3 new reports from 3 other websites, so that you can compare them with each other if necessary.

    Note that today, all the websites we have on Wordfence Central (128) have the “Local Changes” state, yet I resynchronized everything yesterday.

    Thanks!

    Hi @pierreripka,

    I checked with our developers and we have a fix for this issue (FB25482) in our upcoming website release. This might go out today, or otherwise will likely be Monday.

    The fix won’t require a plugin update—the fix is on Wordfence Central itself.

    Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,
    Tiffany

    Hi @wftiffany,

    Thank you for your reply and this fix.

    I can confirm that the problem is solved for “Scan Schedule” and “Allowlisted services”.

    However, there are still “Local changes” for the “Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules” field.

    The problem comes from the separator of IP addresses (comma on the plugin, space on your site).

    I resynchronized all the sites several times and the “Local changes” status reappears systematically for this field.

    Regards,
    Pierre

    The issue is back for the “Allowlisted services” field.
    Nothing for “Scan Schedule” for the moment.
