template tag not working

I just ran the latest update – I used to use this code:

<div class="day"><span style="font-size:0.8em;">%start{D}%</span><br/>%start1gwpiim%</div>
<div class="month">%start{M}%</div>
</div>
<a href="%event_url%">%event_title%</a><br/>%start{}{ g:ia}% %event_venue%<div class="clear"></div>

as a template in the events widget (to make it look like a calendar date layout) but it’s not working and if I even just put %start{M}% it adds on the time.
