I’ve used the Amazon Link for a while with various clients… I went this week to add a client, and could not edit the templates. I checked other clients where I had changed this before, it did not work there either.

    What happened?

    Hi,

When you say could not edit, can you give a bit more detail?

    e.g.

Hitting UPDATE causes an update, but the template content has not changed?
On hitting the UPDATE, nothing happens?
    The UPDATE button missing?
The Template Content text box is greyed out?

Paul, I appreciate the very quick reply!

When looking at the templates, I used to be able to click one, and it would then show the details to edit. Now, clicking does nothing, so I can’t even see it, let alone edit.

I tried it on Chrome and Edge (which I rarely use, but did the due-diligence).

    Hi,

This is handled by the JavaScript in the file:

    amazon-link/include/amazon-admin.js

Is it possible to check that this file is installed?, And that it is loading on the template page?

I think it is also used on the settings page, so you should be able to collapse/expand the various sections (Display Options, 'Add Amazon Link' form Settings, etc.).

(Obviously I don’t have the problem, so can’t see any errors here). If your browser has a ‘console’ it may show a bunch of errors when you open the templates page or click on the template heading. Any of them look like possible candidates?

It might be some javascript in one of the templates is causing a problem? On the Settings page try enabling the ‘Disable Template Previews’ setting and see if you can now edit the templates. If it has then you can disable the preview for individual templates then disable the global setting and see if the problem goes away?

    Paul,

    > .js file is present. I can expand and collapse sections, just not see the detail of any template. Date of file is Jan 31, 2018.

    > I disabled the preview as suggested, but there was no difference.

    > i have not tried to edit a template in quite a while (no need), so I suspect i need to systematically disable some recent plugins and find the conflict.

I could also potentially just edit the raw data… where is this stored in the MU version of WordPress? MySQL data or in a text file somewhere?

Again, thank you for the quick response.

    Hi,

I’ve not tried MU WordPress, under the standard install there is an option in _options table with the name AmazonLinkTemplates. I would not recommend editing it directly though!

The only other thing I can think of is some CSS issue, i.e. the template stuff is there it just is hidden.

In chrome if you right click on where the template should be and select ‘inspect’, are all the elements there just not visible?

Is this a single installation of WordPress that is affected, or is it on several sites?

Paul… rouge plugin… process of elimination. New client had an RSPV system and that was it… grumble…

I appreciate your patience and assistance!

BTW… as a coincidence, a Yoast plugin was discontinued, so i had to change how i grabbed a page keyword for the search. Solving 2 unrelated new problems is always fun!

No worries, glad you got it sorted!
