temporarily forward without using settings page

  • I am having an issue with a theme where if I set a static front page ..
    Administration > Settings > Reading ..

    The front page does not display properly. Mind you if I go to the page directly everything works without any issues.

    While I am working this issue out I would like to redirect my front page to another page without using the settings.

    I tired a few plugins with no luck.

    Can I do this from .htaccess without breaking the rest of the site or breaking permilinks?
