Looking for the best way to create a 2nd shop for a client. They have a business running off Woocommerce but want to have a Christmas shop selling different products plus they want to collect performance stats separately. Both shops will need to run in tandem during December and ideally I would like to have the existing users be able to log in to the 2nd shop using their existing credentials.

My only thoughts are to create a subdomain example.com/christmas and then clone the existing site, remove the products, update internal links etc. Is that the best way?

And if I do it this way, do I install the subdomain in my public_html folder or create a new sub-directory christmas.example.com?

    Many thanks!

    Hey @mparsons501979,

Syncing customer accounts across two separate sites can be quite tricky but maybe one of these approaches would work for you.

You could create a WordPress multisite/network installation which had both sites located on it. You could then investigate using this free plugin below to sync WordPress user accounts.

Another approach you could possibly investigate is using a plugin called WooMultiStore. I’m not too sure if WooMultiStore supports customer syncing but you could reach out the developers of the plugin to find out for sure.

Thanks Stuart. I’m not that precious about retaining the same user credentials tbh. If it’s complicated and going to cost time and money (as woomultistore isn’t free) then I’ll just have the users create new accounts.

I’ve set up the subdomain now and will just copy over my CSS rather than cloning my existing site as that will of course port over all the past sales that I don’t want to be included in the Woocommerce stats.

    Hey @mparsons501979,

It’s maybe worth investigating the multi-site/network method I suggested as the user sync plugin is free ??
