Temporary Subscription

Not sure if this has already been asked but I could not find any posts with similar question.

I have Global Restriction add-on and I would like to offer a group subscription to selected clients. I do not want to leave it open to all website visitors.

To do this, I reckon I have to do it manually. Activate the plan, my client subscribes then I deactivate the plan. However, my question is:
If I activated a group subscription to offer to a client and then deactivated it would this work? Or would the deactivated subscription plan block the client from accessing the website?
