• I bought hosting from BlueHost yesterday and installed WordPress. During the purchase process, I opted to use my existing domain (I also bought yesterday from a different provider). Up till now, the URL on my WordPress is still a temporary domain.

Question: How long does it usually take before my domain is placed on my WordPress site?

    – If I understand your question, when a domain is registered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less) for DNS/nameserver records to fully propagate. Second, different networks will update at different times during this period, so you may need to get in touch with them for more details. That is, bear in mind that just because one provider has updated their records, it doesn’t mean that another will. – During that time, your domain may go to its old location, and you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors”.
    – If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache.
    – If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://support.opendns.com/entries/26336865-Clearing-the-DNS-Cache-on-Computers-Servers-and-Web-Browsers

What i meant by that was, I bought a domain name from GoDaddy then I bought a web hosting from BlueHost and used the domain from GoDaddy.

Thanks for explaining that process to me t-p, i am still learning with domain and web hosting. I’ll wait until tomorrow then and hopefully my WordPress site will be up with my domain name.

    Thanks thanks.
