    Before the malfunction happened:
I don’t know what I did but my header image completely disappeared and would only display my background colour.
I tried adding it back in there by customizing the page, then i uploaded it, and it said it uploaded however it still wasn’t there. I had a different header image on another page and it also disappeared on that page as well.
    And then:
the content on my page disappeared (widgets, text, everything)

AND NOW I reloaded the page and its white. Theres absolutely nothing but a white screen. I cant get to the admin log in page nor can i access the page i was viewing my website on.

i have no idea what happened but everything is gone, no code, no error, nothing.. just a blank white screen, literally.

  • You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to deactivate the theme you are using on that site. Find the themes folder and the one you have active on the site and rename that theme – i.e.

    wp-content
       themes
          your active theme.HOLD

Hopefully that will force WP to use a default theme and let you login again.

Oh thanks! I’m logged into the Dashboard.
But when I try to view my website its still blank

You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel

That’s through your hosting account – also see:

Oh wait, did you do the above already?

If so, is there a default theme in your themes folder (i.e. Twenty Fifteen should be in the themes folder)?

Oh but I’m using XAMPP CP to run wordpress on.

Ah okay, so you should be able to navigate to the themes folder and remove the one you were using when the site crashed.

Ok so I deleted it from the folder and then activated another theme. It works thank you.

But I also had my site backed up, do I need to delete the backup I had in case it makes wordpress crash?

Ill just delete the backup and make a new one I guess. Anyway thanks for the help, problem solved.
