test drive/install locally on mac os x

    I need to testdrive and modify a wordpress installation for a friend, before uploading it to a server. I need to use plugins and everything, but the WordPress Codex only explains how to do this on a Windows machine….I use a Mac (OS 10.5)! Can anyone help?

  • This is something all WordPress users should do. I currently have about a dozen local WP installs, most for development/experimenting and one serves as an offline backup of my real blog. I use WampServer on Vista.

    Mac users are in luck. The app you’re looking for is MAMP. There is indeed info in the Codex dealing with this topic here.

    Excellent, thank you! I searched high and low in the codex but couldn’t find the page that found for me…maybe my search skills need brushing up.
