Test email not working – SMTP error and connect failed

    Hi there,

    I receive the following error when trying a test email:

    Connection: opening to ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465, timeout=300, options=array ()
    SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111)
    SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

    and Server Info:

    OS: Linux p3plcpnl0723.prod.phx3.secureserver.net 2.6.32-673.8.1.lve1.4.3.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Feb 10 08:57:30 EST 2016 x86_64
    PHP version: 5.4.43
    WordPress version: 4.0
    WordPress multisite: No
    openssl: Available
    allow_url_fopen: Enabled
    stream_socket_client: Available
    fsockopen: Available

    I have tried all the fixes I’ve read to date but with no luck.
