When trying to send a test email with the plugin on a site hosted at BlueHost I get the following unhelpful error: Test Failed with Error. (no indication of which error)
In the server logs I was able to locate the exact error, it is
[28-Jan-2016 15:39:25 UTC] PHP Warning: curl_error() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given in /home1/siamorec/public_html/clazmic/wp-content/plugins/postmark-approved-wordpress-plugin/postmark.php on line 386

Any idea what is causing this and how we solve it?

  • Hi etellewyn,

I was having the same issue and realized I was grabbing the wrong API tokens. There are actually 2 locations they put those…one global token for the account itself and then they have an API token for the individual “servers” you can create. If you select your server another navigation will show up below the main one with more options. Look for the link labeled credentials and you will see “Server API token”. This is the one you put in WordPress settings under the postmarkapp plugin. Once I put the correct token in I was able to send a test message through the settings page.

    Hope this helps.

Yes thank you! That’s exactly what it was. In case anybody else runs into this, the other (dumber) thing I did on another site was use a different “from” email than the one verified in postmark. That also resulted in a “failed with error” message. Really wish the error was specified in admin…

    Anyway thanks lakepointe!
