I have installed the plugins “Contact form 7” and “WP Mail SMTP”. Configurations all passed and the plugin has successfully linked to gmail. Test mail is sending and received in my gmail inbox, but contact form on the website does not work. I have tired going to the site and sending a message, it says, message sent. But nothing happens, no email redirected to gmail inbox, nothing. I checked the FROM email address in WP Mail SMTP is the same as in a notification in form settings of Contact7 Form. Still nothing, What do I do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Same problem ??

WP Mail SMTP >> Settings >> General — What mailer are you using?

Also, if you deactivate WP Mail SMTP, then fill out a contact form, do you receive it in your inbox?

If not, the issue is likely with Contact Form 7, not WP Mail SMTP.

    Hi @vitalytrendy

I’m sorry for the trouble with this, and for my delayed response!

The good news is — If the test email both showing up in your Gmail’s Sent folder and also getting delivered successfully, then this means that WP Mail SMTP is working correctly. So that’s great!

So on to troubleshooting. If I’m understanding correctly, it sounds like you’re using the Google mailer. So I’ll base everything next off of that (and if that’s not correct, please definitely let me know in your reply).

With the Google mailer, the only email that matters is the one you use to set up the app in Google. This email will override the From Email setting you added in WP Mail SMTP > Settings. If you look back at these settings, you should see that From Email and Force From Email have both been disabled — this is to visually show that Google’s API will ignore these settings. It will automatically force your Google app account email to be used as the From Email sitewide.

So if everything is working as it should, this should be all set.

Next, I’d recommend temporarily installing an email logging plugin (there are a bunch of free ones out there, but if it helps here’s one: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/email-log/)

The goal with this is simply to be able to easily see that your emails are actually getting sent. If they aren’t sending at all, there’s likely an issue with your forms as heisenberg41 mentioned above.

This seems most likely to me right now, since you mentioned that nothing’s appearing in your Gmail’s Sent folder.

And if you confirm that emails are not sending at all (or just want to skip over that part), then I’d recommend checking over all email settings in your form. Is everything formatted exactly as the plugin authors recommend in their docs? One typo or formatting issue can often be the root of the issue.

I hope this helps you get things sorted!

And @mrmazure hopefully this is helpful to you too ?? However if this advice doesn’t help you find a resolution, please be sure to post a brand new issue with details on what you’re seeing, the mailer you’re using, and what you’ve tried so far. This will allow us to help you out specifically.

    Thanks!

Hi @vitalytrendy, @mrmazure – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
