• Hi there,

I would like to use a new theme on my existing site but it will take me a while to customise it and I don’t want any downtime with my current site.

How can I work on this ”new site” and then, make it become my main site once I have it all ready without messing anything up?

The reason I need to set it up is because when I preview the new theme, everything is a bit all over the place!

Hope this makes sense and that there is an easy-ish way ??

    Thank you!
    mimi

Thanks Esmi! That sounds great but does that mean I could rename categories, move posts and menus around without users seeing it and then apply that theme when I am all set??

No – you can only test the theme out. If you really want to play with the site’s content, then I’d suggest setting up a new test install – perhaps a a local install. You can import content from the live site and play with everything to your heart’s content.

    Thanks for your reply Esmi.
I have set up a subdomain and install wordpress with the new theme and imported my posts/pages/etc.
If I set up the new site like I want it there, is there an easy to then move the whole thing to replace my current files/site?
I don’t want the whole thing to go wrong ??
