    Hi,

I’m inserting a slider using the [testimonials_slider] shortcode but for some reason it’s only showing the first 3 testimonials – after the 3rd testimonial, it’s showing blank slide. A quick look in the inspector shows that my 7 testimonials are actually being split for some reason by an em tag and a strong tag. See here for a screenshot of the inspector.

I’ve been able to recreate this across different pages and themes so have boiled it down to a plugin issue. I’ve taken a look at the plugin code but haven’t been able to find where the additional code is coming from.

Are you able to offer any help?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Jack, please try the debug routine per the FAQ. There’s a theme or plugin conflict coming into play.

    Thanks Michael,

Ok, i’ve installed Twenty Fifteen, activated it and de-activated all plugins except for the ‘Testimonials Widget’ plugin. I’ve then added the [testimonials_slider] shortcode to a new page called ‘test’ and tried it again and i’m experiencing the exact same behaviour.

Got URL to view the problem at?

Are you positive all other plugins are deactivated?

There’s no reason for testimonials widget plugin to be supplying those em tags.

    Absolutely positive.
The only theme that’s active is twentyfifteen and the only plugin that’s active, is yours.

Presumably, the plugin gathers all the testimonials together and just puts them in a slider – I don’t need to ‘create’ a slider first. Is that right?

No need to create a slider. Create a testimonial, add a testimonial slider shortcode or widget for the front end and that’s it.

Have you double checked that your testimonials content are free of cruddy HTML? Use the text mode when editing testimonials content.

Alternately, try limiting testimonials to 1. Then check the HTML source and compare to the testimonial content.

Have you tried resetting all global and widget options per the FAQ?

Thanks. Looks like it was some stray HTML in one of the testimonials.
Not sure if there’s anyway the plugin can handle that to stop it from breaking a slide (js to terminate any un-closed HTML tags or something).

Thanks for your help in tracking down the issue.
