testimonials widget not showing up as an option after 3.0 install

After installing the latest version of the plugin, Testimonials appears as a menu item but does not appear as a widget option. I’d like to completely uninstall the plugin and try installing it again, but I’m not sure how to beyond deleting it using the user interface or deleting the directory, neither of which have done the trick.
