• I really hate referrer spam. I don’t want to just stand by and let my website be a promotion tool for some jerk and his gambling site.
Having manually edited .htaccess files to bounce referrals from sites meeting keyword and domain criteria that I manually culled culled from my stat logs, with the switch to WP, I’ve been trying out the refferal bounce tools available as plugins. Currently I am using Referral Bouncer (https://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/word-press-1-5-plugin-referer-bouncer/) to maintain and edit the list. I check my stats for referrers a few times a month adding what I can to the block list.

My question is, does anyone have any advice or ideas on testing whether the plugin is working and whether the htaccess file is blocking the domains and keywords I’m putting in it? Also if anyone has any recommendations for plugins or otherwise related to this issue, I’d be much obliged.
