As a matter of fairness towards the next users who will read my request for assistance, I would like to clarify the following:
I installed the WPSpeed plugin for the first time on my website. Unfortunately, after several attempts, I haven’t noticed any difference in the metric that the PageSpeed Insights tool detects. I admit that the first thought that crossed my mind was that I tested yet another plugin that doesn’t work or doesn’t perform what it promises. After all, from what transpires in the changelog, it seems to be a plugin in its infancy.
However, having appreciated the recent positive comments of the few users currently present, I tried to rely on assistance via the support form.
With pleasant surprise, after only a few hours I received the answer you read above. The consultancy then continued via private e-mails, following the welcome invitation of John, the developer.
I gave him access to the site and let him make the necessary inquiries.
The result of the investigation determined that it was not a plugin malfunction. It was simply the server’s internal caching system that prevented the PageSpeed Insights metric from detecting new page parameters after activating the WPSpeed plugin! I had concentrated on disabling the site’s caching system, but I hadn’t thought about the server one!
All resolved in a handful of emails. Now I can appreciate the excellent properties of WPSpeed which I immediately purchased in the PRO version and which I strongly recommend.
I thank John for his availability and patience with my request and I wish him all the best, as well as a long and profitable life for this interesting and innovative plugin.
Conclusion: Before testing the Homepage after activating the free version of WPSpeed, clear the site cache well and also the one possibly active on the server! Alternatively, use the string “?nocache=1” at the end of the URL to test (example: https://mysite.com/home/?nocache=1).
