Text added to a post’s RSS item?

    Dear Robin,

    First of all: thanks for developing this plugin–it’s awesome! I’m now using it on both of my sites.

    My question is this. It seems to me that the plugin is adding some text at the bottom of my posts’ RSS items. Can this be so?

    In some cases, the text is “The post X appeared first on [sitename]“. In others, it’s “Continue reading X at [sitename]“.

    I have not added anything under Read More Text in the plugin’s settings. I have also not added anything to “Content to put after each post in the feed” in Yoast’s RSS settings. As far as I know, those are the only two places where I could manually have influenced this behavior.

    It may not be your plugin after all, but I do not recall seeing this end-of-RSS-post text prior to installing it. (In fact, I had cleared the text from Yoast because I don’t want any text there as it would also automatically appear in RSS-based MailChimp mails.)

    Can you help me on my way to resolving this issue?

    Hi Harman! I do see the “Continue reading…” text in your feed. This will happen if your feed is set to excerpts (which yours is), even if you have removed the text from the plugin setting, because the plugin reverts to the default text if the setting is blank.

    There are two ways to override this, detailed in this support thread. One is code based; one is more of a workaround. If you are comfortable with doing the code option, that would be the preferable method, but the workaround should be sufficient and not be evident to your readers.

    Thank you so much, Robin. I had searched through your previous support items, but I must have missed this one.

    I’m a bit code-averse, so I’ll try adding the non-breaking space to the Read More Text field.
