Why on earth in WordPress 4.9.8. would you get rid of the text color box so I’m now not able to easily change the color of text in my post???

  • I still have it. I disabled the TinyMCE Advanced plugin I have and the Text Color box was still there with the default Visual Editor. I did not try out that new Gutenberg editor.

Do you have any plugins that modify the editor? If so, try deactivating them.

    Hello there,

The text color box has not been removed from the classic editor and Gutenberg also gives you the option to change the color of the text.

Could you give more information about the task you are trying to do? Thanks.

Okay I found it! I’m so not savvy with this stuff! I just had to click the toolbar toggle button and there is was along with other things! I didn’t ever do that before and didn’t know the toolbar would expand. Case closed!

I have the same issue and wondering if it is related to the theme – I’m using Twenty Sixteen. I have been editing another site under a custom theme for several years, and that site retained the larger text edit toolbar even after WP 4.9.8 update.
I can’t see any option to “toggle” or expand the toolbar. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay – it took a while, but I found the toggle to the advanced editor. An old dog learning new tricks.
