• I just upgraded to 3.5 and can’t open the Text editor on any of my posts or pages. It only allows me to use Visual.

I checked all my plugins and that doesn’t seem to be the issue.

Any advice on how to fix?

    Thanks!

You’re lucky, usually it’s the Visual Editor that gets zapped. ??

Have you deactivate all of your plugins and switched to the Twenty Eleven theme? This is just a temporary step to see if the text editor comes back and you can switch it back right afterwards.

Also please review the 3.5 master list just incase you’ve one of those issues.

    Hi Jan,

Yes first thing I did was read the 3.5 master list. Then I deactivated all my plugins. I switched to Twenty Twelve Theme. But with your email I tried the Twenty Eleven.

Now if on the switch is I close on Text editor when I return to my theme it only allows Text editor. If I then switch back to Twenty Eleven and close on Visual editor, when I return it only allows Visual editor.

    Anything else I can try?

I see there is a new version of Twenty Eleven 1.5, but I’m afraid now of upgrading to anything. Should I upgrade and it will fix it.

    Thanks,
    Judy

    Sorry, one more thing.

Trying out a few other things… I can’t open the URL edit button or add another category directly from a post. Is this all related to the upgrade? Can I safely switch back to previous version?

Do you use BulletProof Security? If so, upgrade that plugin. WP 3.5 didn’t play well with the older version of BPS.

    Hi Judy,

Try flushing the cache on your web browser.

I use the latest version of chrome and was experiencing the exact same issue you have described above and went through all the steps or checking plugins. Turns out all I needed to do was clear the cache and it resolved the issue.

    Nope, don’t have BulletProof Security.

Tried flushing out the cache. Still same problem ??

i have the same issue too.. along with this.. the help button on the top right wont work in a new post screen.. you have to back out into the dashboard to be able to use the help tab…
this thing has some big bugs..
    how do we switch back?

And the hyper link icon wont do anything…just blinks when you click on it….

judy.. i fixed mine it was a plugin ” Shopper’s Haul? Deal Plugin ” that broke mine.. i disable and it works now…

AWESOME! Kmessinger thank you thank you so much!!

    It works. Yey!!

What was the cause of the conflict?

Looking at the site this morning. It looks like everything was fixed except some plugins are now not working properly, such as WordPress SEO by Yoast.

Should I just contact that plugin directly to see if they can fix?

Man, I always upgrade a new version of WordPress. From now on I’ll think twice.

I just went on WordPress SEO support and he brought right back here.

Anybody have any ideas how to fix the plugin? Should I uninstall and reinstall?
