Text Field Lengths Being Ignored

I’ve used create-form-7 on dozens of sites. Never had a problem with it. Suddenly, I have an inexplicable issue.

I create a text field called “Name” and I give it a size of 24 and a max length of 24. When the field displays on the WP page, it ignores the length completely and displays at (apparently) default length. It doesn’t matter what I use for size and max-length, I get the same result on all text fields on both Firefox 18.0.2 and Safari 6, both on OS X.

The shortcode for this field comes out: [text* Name 24/24 akismet:author watermark “Full Name”]

But it doesn’t change with or without watermark, with or without akismet check.

Please help. Client becoming impatient!
