Text not showing up on Mac

  • Hi! I have built a child theme based on Twentytwelve, but I have a big problem: For some users on Mac computers the text in the content area just doesn’t show up (only on “home” and “about me” so far). I can’t test on a Mac myself, but on my iPad it works fine. What could the problem be?

  • yeah your theme is not platform dependent.. however I would suspect something in your CSS File is not playing right.

    normally there is a CSS Reset code at the top of the CSS File…
    meaning the first 20 lines or so of your CSS File styles.css
    are dedicated to resetting any user/visitor css settings.

    if you edited that area you need to find a copy of that file and paste it back in ..

    either that or tell them that you do not support game devices and they should buy a computer.

    The bar displays perfectly on my Mac using Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Without replicating the issue and having a look at it directly it’s difficult to say what’s causing it – like going to the doctor and saying ‘my head was sore last Tuesday’ ?? Can you source a screenshot of the issue?

    You could also try Chrome Developer Tools, or equivalent, to see if there’s any issues with the loading of resources (ie web fonts) and inspect the actual source to see if there’s any rogue CSS being applied to the missing menu items. Another ‘101’ question would be ‘are the missing menu items actually in the source code output by WP’?

    Hi Gregor,

    Thank you for your reply! It is not the menu items that are missing, but the actual text in the content area. I don’t have a screen shot as it is users that have been complaining about missing text, but they say that there simply is no text in between the header picture (three pictures at the top) and the footer. Apparetly it is only on Home and About me this happens, and it doesn’t happen always. I will take a look at the tools you mentioned, but it would be great to hear more from people with a Mac!
