Text overlay on images

    Admitted newbie to WP. Having great difficulty getting text overlays on added images to my pages. Tried some tutorials. Slight success adding some code to the html. Per one tutorial, the additional coding is done per the CSS. Not sure where this is and to be clear, I would like different text per image, per page.
