Text runs off the page

Well certainly it will run off the page like that when typing one big-ass line of characters with no line break. Post normally and it won’t be a problem.

Well, I thought it would automatically put a line break for me. Is there anyway of setting it up so that I don’t have to do a hard return? It’s just that i’ve seen other blogs and the text looks so tidy. If I do a hard return, it will be guesswork and i’ll have to go back and forth between viewing the blog and the post entry form to make sure that it doesn’t go over the margins and lining it up correctly.

It will so long as you type normally. You don’t have to guess. This is true for any html textarea I’ve ever used. Test it for yourself – manually type the paragraph you posted above into the WordPress write post editor.

The same thing will happen if you try to insert one huge line of text into the comment text area – it will spill over.

Oh. Well, that would make sense now wouldn’t it? Duh, on my part! Thank you for your help Len. From now on, I won’t make it more difficult than it needs to be.

I realize this is an old post. I wanted to just say thanks to LenK for the laugh and the help.

I have searched all day for a way to make a longgggggggggggggggggggg line of text stop running off the comments textarea and ran across this post.

I went back and edited the post by just typing as I normally would and it fixed the problem.

DUH.

I just wanted to advise anyone that may be having the same problem, that testing the comments and posts with as LenK so delicately put it – typing one big-ass line of characters – WILL make it run off the page.

If you just type as you normally would, it will not happen – promise.
