• Hello!

I am a student in Germany and i sometimes work on some websites. I am not a good web-designer, but i just have fun doing it, even when the results are .. not-so-beautiful. Anyway.

At the moment I focus on customizing Paul Bennets Theme “Urban”, but I encountered an interesting error: On a clean install of WordPress, the Homepage shows most of its elements eigther italic or bold, depending on the browser!

Opera: most text is -> italic
Safari/Firefox: most test is -> bold

It can’t really be an open em or strong tag, as it would look the same on every browser. So I need to know, if there is any CSS/HTML element witch shows this behaviour, so that i can successfully locate and remove it. This problem appeared out of nowhere, probably after updating most of my browsers to beta-versions, (which i allways do), because i didn’t work on the site for around 1 month now, and the only thing that changed is my browser (as said: beta), but the funny thing is, that it happens on firefox / safari to…

    anyway, thanks for your help!

  • I’d need to see this in action, so a link to an example page please.

I am sorry, that I forgot to add it in the first post.

If you need me to quote any of the files, let me know!

I can’t see the issue myself, with which bit of text are you seeing the difference?

Hello, and sorry for my late reply.

I have made some screenshots with different browsers on my system (Win7 32bit). The problem is with the normal Text inside the “Hello world!”-Post. On Safari and Firefox, the text is bold; in Opera it shows italic and on my Mobile-phone it shows as normal. I am just quite confused, because, it is supposed to be normal (neither bold nor italic).
I was thinking, that it might be a problem with Opera being in Beta, but in FF and S it also shows as non-normal… I guess that some HTML Element is now treated differently buy different browsers, but i am not sure.
Here links to the screen shots:

    Safari 5: https://anathematic.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/safari_5.png
    Firefox 4 Beta 7: https://anathematic.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/firefox_4_beta7.png
    and Opera 11 Build 1140: https://anathematic.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/opera_11_beta.jpg

I hope you can help me, and thanks for the effort so far. I’ll try to look into the problem myself sometime later today, but I am not sure, if I’ll be able to solve the problem.

Firefox and Opera beta – I’d suggest you mention it on the feedback forums for those versions. I can’t see anything wrong on the page myself (other than a couple of validation issues which wouldn’t affect this)

I thought so… hmm I was just irritated, that Safari (which is a stable release) showed the same issue. Anyway, thanks for your help, I’ll see to the MyOpera community and report the issue!

the italicised text is a bug, IMO. The bold text might not be – but would still be worth reporting.
