Text Tab Unavailable

  • Hello,
    After upgrading to 4.7 my text tab is there, but when I click on it, nothing happens.
    I tested it in Chrome, Firefox and Opera hoping it was browser issue. Followed normal browser troubleshooting steps clearing cache etc.

    An no, the “Disable the visual editor when writing” box is not checked.

    Anyone else having this issue? Any fix ideas?

  • You need to go through the basic troubleshooting steps.

    First deactivate all plugins.

    Is issues resolved?

    If so, it’s a plugin issue. Activate one at a time, check the tabs. When it breaks, the last plugin activated was the issue. Deactivate and contact plugin developer.

    If it’s still broken with all plugins deactivated, it’s the theme. Switch to default unedited theme.

    Did that fix it? (Check tabs).

    If not, you should Manually Update WordPress.

    At that point you are at a default install.

    So, if all steps above do not fix it, contact your host.

    I actually did all of those steps.
    When I upgraded to 4.7 I received some plugin errors. I disabled and then deleted them, and manually reinstalled the wordpress upgrade.

    It was after then manual install that this issue occurred.

    I spent about an hour on the phone with godaddy already today. I was hoping someone had a quick fix “of it’s just this little thing” solution.

    So you deleted the plugin folders?

    Try using WP_DEBUG via your wp-config.php file and try again, are there any error reports anywhere on-screen?

    @swansonphotos I added the folder back in afterwards.

    And just to make sure again I went through and deactivated/re-activated each plugin after testing it and it’s not a plugin issue.
