After you add the widget, hit the Save Changes button, THEN edit the text widget.

Thank you! I’ve done like you suggested and I saved my code but the text does not display in the sidebar. Is there something that else that I did not do?

Can you have pictures added with that widget?

I don’t know? This is my first blog so all this is new to me. I suppose you could. It is a new version of wordpress and a 2.7.1 compatible theme.

You are pressing Save Changes after dragging them over to the sidebar, right?

Try switching to the default or another WordPress theme and see if widgets work there.
