Text Widget images

Hi,

When adding html to display an image in a text widget, after saving there’s an extra closing </img> tag added and the image displays as a broken link. Also, the <a href="my-link-here"></a> is stripped out altogether.

Is this because the text widget for the theme has been customized with the icons feature? Or do you have any suggestions for an alternative way to add images to widgets?
