text wrap around div

Is there anyway to embed a div in a post that does not leave a gap the size of the div. I align the div left (or right) and place an ad block in the div, but only one line of the text is on the same level as the div, there is a large gap because the div is on the same line as the text. Is there anyway to have the text wrap around the whole vertical depth of the div? Thanks
