The WooCommerce team will not be implementing this inside WooCommerce itself. It is an option that only some users will want so they would rather it remain as an extension rather than have it inside the core code.

You do not need to worry about WordPress or WooCommerce updates with this extension. If, for some reason, a future WooCommerce update breaks the functionality of this extension then I will make sure I fix it ASAP. That is highly unlikely though.

thanks for the heads up… I find it odd you say “only some” users want this feature, but why would almost everyone not want this? after all, if you get a bad email address that would only be tons of headaches and possibly losing a customer and/or sale.

While it’s true that people obviously want correct email addresses in their system, many people do not want an extra field for their customers to fill in on the checkout page as it creates more work for the customer which may discourage them from using the store. You just need to decide if the pros outweigh the cons for your store.
