• Its a mess, that some core authors doesnt understand what they are doing to professional sites running wordpress, if they throw in unwanted code.
After argues came up as they threw in loading unwanted Fonts directly from Google, I hoped they would be more carefully or did learn out of it.
Thank you for this plugin, that removes this bullshit out of my sites.

Perhaps I should have named it “Bullshit remover”?

Anyways, glad to hear you appreciate the plugin ??

    @ryan +1 Lol!

I would love to see a plugin called Bullshit Remover! It should include any functionality that removes WordPress junk:

    -Disable Emojis (plugin)
    -Disable Google Fonts (plugin)
-Better Capital P Dangit (code snippet)
-Remove p tags around images in content (snippet)
-WordPress Ping Optimizer (plugin) — to prevent pings on post edit
    -Disable Self Pings (snippet)

    Suggestions welcome!

Someone should make a plugin which does that by utilizing the TMG plugin activation library to include them via the “Bullshit Remover” plugin. That may be quite popular if someone made it.

BTW, I also made the SEO Whacker plugin for doing similar things to the WordPress SEO plugin in case that is of interest to you … https://geek.hellyer.kiwi/plugins/seo-whacker/

Using the TGM library is a great idea! I didn’t know about it and just looked it up — looks like you’re on to something ??

I checked out the SEO Whacker — since I’m the only admin on my single install, I don’t think it’s really meant for me. Those issues had never even occurred to me, but yeah, it definitely looks useful in the right situation!

I also just found the Disabler plugin, which does some interesting things. I didn’t know that applying updates sends the site’s URL to WordPress… But I assume that’s for repository stats, which is useful to the community, so I’m not sure I’d want to disable that… Do you have any thoughts on that?

I’ve worked on projects where disabling tracking by www.ads-software.com was necessary for legal and privacy reasons. Other than that, I never bother disabling that functionality. It’s useful for www.ads-software.com to know what’s going on.

Thanks for confirming my hunch ??

I live in Germany where they are über careful with privacy issues. I suspect many people disable all of that functionality here. But I suspect many people don’t realise it’s happening, and are unwittingly sending back information they had not intended :/

I’ve also worked on some high security projects with which require all interactions with external systems to be blocked.

Oh, geez — I thought you were from New Zealand because of the “kiwi” in your url. Oops!

I am from New Zealand. But I live in Berlin.

    Darn all these assumptions. ??
