    Hi all,

Today, for some reason, a reason I do not know, none of the images I would upload would, well, actually upload. In the Media Library, when I would go to upload a file, it would upload, but then the preview would be broken, wouldn’t show up in any post, etc etc. This issue is not a new one, and trust me, I’ve looked at every post about this I can find.

    • I’ve made sure all of the folders and files in my wp-content/uploads folder are 777.
I’ve disabled all of the plugins.
      I’ve switched themes.
      I’ve reset my permalinks
    • Here’s the background:

I recently migrated the site from a subdomain (www.wpsite.otherdomain.com) to a primary domain (www.wpsite.com). The migration went smoothly! Everything seemed to be working fine. But I guess I didn’t check this enough, because clearly it isn’t. The only thing I can say is that I can identify the problem having started from when I migrated. Here’s what I did to migrate:

    • My hosting is with GoDaddy
I purchased a domain name and added it to the hosting account
I copied all of the files from the subdomain folder to the primary folder
I logged into the wp-admin page for the primary domain, changed the URL’s
    • From that point on I was able to edit the system files no problem, just not upload.

Here is what I am hoping is they key part: when going to the files’ ‘attachment page’, I would be able to see its drive path (…/uploads/2014/11), so I then went to that path on FTP, and the file I thought I uploaded, and to what WP was pointing to was not there.

So could this be a database problem?

Any help would be beyond appreciated.

      Thank you

    Try:
Go to Admin -> Settings -> Media and make sure both the Store uploads in this folder and Full URL path to files entries are blank and Save Changes.

    Hi Tara,

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention this in the post but I’m running WordPress 4.0 so those options aren’t available for me…. ??

It seems like I might have come across a further development: The media is being uploaded to the wp-content/uploads folder on the OLD domain tree, not the new one. So even after changing the site from wpsite.oldomain.com to wpsite.com, when I am uploading media in wpsite.com it is landing in the wp-content/uploads folder of wpsite.oldomain.com …………

I am beyond confused right now. Tara, I just went back into the media settings page and those two options were available, and indeed pointing to the wrong directory. That said, I also found the culprit in the PHP database as ‘upload_path’.

I do believe it will now be fixed………
