    From another thread:

Hope your weekend camping was sweet!

Thank you for these updates. I’ve got to tell you how nice these new additions are.
The thumbs are perfect now, the clear button is a great help and the drag to re-order is a huge benefit, it is so quick and easy to re-order now. These are BIG improvements! Great work, Thanks.

I did run into a bug:
    – I added two related links to a post. Everything worked beautifully. I was also able to go into the settings to reformat a little of the css. Worked awesome.
    – Then I decided instead of just two related links at the end of the same post I wanted five. So, I went back into the post editor to add three more related links, everything looked great in the editor. I was also able to reorder them easily (very nice addition by the way). Published, then refreshed the page. The additional three related links were a no show.
    – I cleared my cache and cookies, published, refreshed the page, still not showing.
    – Deactivated and re-activated the plugin, the five related are still in the admin post editor, refreshed page, still not showing.
    – Re-installed the plugin, the five related are still in the admin post editor, refreshed page, still not showing.
    – Deleted all of the related links, published it this way without them, hoping to clear something out. Then added the five related links back, published, refreshed page, now there are no related links showing. :/
    – Reset all the css to the original, in the settings, saved changes, refreshed the page, still no related links showing.

    What do you think?

Hmm. This sounds similar to the issue the other poster had. I was able to recreate the problem with a server side wp cache plugin running called “WP Super Cache” (there are others but I have not used them). The other poster did not respond to confirm whether he was using it or not, so I did not pursue it. Are you using something like that?

Note: this is not the same as your browser cache which you mentioned clearing.

I don’t suppose you are using Firefox and are familiar with Firebug are you? Probably a long shot. What browser are you using? I have built in some feedback the plugin to help figure out where the breakdown is, but you need to be able to see it.

I am not using WP Super Cache or anything like it. I turned off all of my plugins and the related links are still not showing up. Maybe my theme is doing something with the server wp cache, but I don’t know? I am using the theme Catch Everest Pro with a child theme.

I am using Firefox and Firebug. I am also using Chrome with the developer tools. The problem is happing in:
    Chrome 29
    Firefox 22
    Safari 6

I have been working on a local server until now.

Now, I installed the plugin on a live test site. I put five related links on this posts:
    https://stonecairnstudio.com/sandbox/JhamtseGatsal/hello-world/
And I put two related links on this post:
    https://stonecairnstudio.com/sandbox/JhamtseGatsal/help-us-find-more-sponsors/

I inspected the code and it isn’t showing any of the plugin related links code. Hopefully having it on the live test site will give you the chance to look into the code.

Let me know if you want me to try and look for anything, or try something different.

You’re killing me! ?? I’ve been poking around for a few hours and there is something going on for sure. For some reason the ‘update’ process (hitting update on a post editing page) is causing the contents of the stored meta data in the database to revert to a past state. Not all the stored data, just the per-structured version I call ‘cached’. Weird.

I am digging deeper to figure this out.

Can you try something for me? Make a few changes to some post links, but don’t hit ‘update’. Just navigate away. The plugin does not require update as it is saving as it goes along / each action is made. Let me know if the links then appear in the post.

I am curious if what you are experiencing now is a new problem or just the same old problem with a previous revert state of no links.

    Thanks for your help!

Ok, so this is what I tried:

    On my local test site:
    – I did just as you said, I made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update.
    – I tried it a few times with a couple different posts and it worked each time!!!

    On my live test site:
    – I tried the same thing, I made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update.
    – This time nothing worked, nothing changed, no code or links were added. :/ :\ ??
    – I tried hitting update and then again, made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update. Still didn’t add any links or related code.

I am happy to help in any way I can. I wish I knew more ways I could be of help.

I hope you haven’t given up, because I didn’t! A new version has been pushed out the door.

I am not sure if you (anyone) is interested in the details, but I *think* when a post edit page was ‘updated’, a final call to save post meta settings was using cached data. Honestly I don’t understand why this was happening and was not paying close attention to this function as it is only there to save legacy data from and earlier version.

So I added a (redundant) call to create the links as part of the update function. Why this must be called again after it has been confirmed AJAXed I do not know…

    Fingers crossed!

I have not given up, I really appreciate all your effort and hard work. You are providing great support.

This is the latest things I have tried.

    On my local test site:
    – I installed v0.71
    – All my related links are working, I can edit them and update, with no problems. They work so beautifully, YES!

    On my live test site:
    – I updated to v0.71
    – I tried the same thing on my live site, I made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update.
    – Still no related links show up. ??
    – I tried it by editing the related links in different ways and updating the the post.
    – Still no related links show up. ??
    – I cleared my browser cache and cookies, and updated the post.
    – Still no related links show up. ??

I am happy to keep trying different things. If you have some ideas of things I can try, I’d be happy to test them out. We will get this figured out, I just know it. Thanks for your dedication.

Nice. Progress. I am going to consider this first issue resolved and move this second issue on the test site to a new thread.
