• So I have looked and looked for the where to delete the code, I have done so to no avail. Please can someone help me get rid of the “Leave a Reply” box.

    I am using the twenty twelve template

    I have deleted the part that says:

    <?php comments_template(); ?>

    Well I have deleted the text inside the brackets on the “Page Template – page.php”

    Where am I going wrong, and how on earth do I get rid of the seriously annoying box.

    Thanks….

  • To disable comments on future Pages/Posts, uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then edit each published Page or Post and uncheck “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    Tried that and it doesn’t take away the box that says “leave reply” sorry I should have said that.

    Yes – it does. And do not edit the Twenty Twelve theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

    I tried all of those settings and then done the auld ctrl F5 and it didn’t change anything. I will uninstall, reinstall and try agin. Never tried the child theme thing, new to WP.

    Re-upload a fresh, unpacked, copy of the Twenty Twelve folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    So to create a child theme all that I need to do is create anther directory and copy/paste the files?

    Apart from the steps in the guidelines, yes you copy and paste files that you want to modify into your Child Theme directory.

    Just don’t copy over the functions.php or style.css files.
