The basics first!

  • Years ago I used Custom Content Types plugin for one of my sites and have been looking for a similar solution for another site as CCT hadn’t been updated. Pods looks like a brilliant replacement and I had it installed and was beginning to get the back end working brilliantly, and am able to create the post types, fields and taxonomies I wanted.
    Unfortunately I’m not finding any info in the documentation around how to make the stuff show up on the site – just using a default theme, and I believe I followed the instructions I could find about templates, but it would help if there were info on the themes page which is currently blank

    I’ll definitely keep an eye on this plug in but I’m not able to use it yet.

    I didn’t know the themes page was left blank, it might have been a stub from when we first did the new docs site and it was missed.

    Is it possible to use Pods with block themes ?
    The Pods templates created in Pods Admin are not visible in the Site Editor (FSE). In FSE, one can create single item and archive templates for the custom post types created with Pods. Is there a way to use these FSE templates instead of the Pods templates ?

    @jpgoem that was probably better as a new topic and not a reply here — but yes you can use Pods with block themes.

    You can use Pods Blocks (https://docs.pods.io/displaying-pods/pods-blocks/) or a number of other block libraries that offer the ability to display content for custom post types.

    Our Pods Blocks offer you the ability to embed Pods Templates in places but you may also choose to use the Pods Single Item block to embed a Pods Template or just put your own custom magic tags in there adhoc.
