• Below is the original review I gave this plugin when it first came out. It was a great plugin that did exactly what I wanted it to do.

    Unfortunately as the plugin has developed and grown it has caused me problems. I have had to adjust all my adverts at least twice, and the latest update messed up my adverts again. I really can’t be bothered to redo all the adverts again.

    Essentially, what has happened is new features are added but they don’t seem to be backward compatible with existing adverts, especially those created at very first instance of the plugin.

    I like the plugin author and I respect his work, but I don’t have time to keep making changes to my adverts so the plugin is now going to be removed. I also purchased the plugin Ad Tracking add-on, but it never worked for me.

    Oh well. I know I should have contacted the author about the problems I have encountered each time they occurred but this isn’t always possible due to time restraints and a busy business to keep.

    ~~~ Original review below ~~~
    I rarely write reviews on WordPress Plugins unless they really perform all the functions that I need, but with the Advanced Ads plugin by Thomas Maier I was compelled to write a review because it really is an excellent plugin.
    There are many advertising plugins out there, but none do the job as well as this one. The plugin offers a great choice of places in the website where the ad is displayed as well as excellent instructions on the developer’s website. It also offers other excellent features that are missing from other plugins.
    All this needs now is a stats page to view impressions/clicks, but I’m happy have this feature lacking because it performs its other functions perfectly.
    This should be the ‘go-to’ plugin of choice for those wishing to add adverts to websites. I look forward to using it on many of my sites now and in the future.
    Great job developer – and thank you!
    Hi Thomas,
    I’m glad I’ve brightened up your Sunday!
    I’m really just saying what deserves to be said. I’ve been using the plugin more today and it fulfills my needs perfectly. If you do ever add a stats area I think that it would be an excellent paid add-on and I would certainly invest in it. If it were built in for free – even better – but I suspect that there would be much work and time involved. However, as I wrote earlier, I’m perfectly happy to not have this feature as the plugin’s existing features are exactly what I need!
    Enjoy your day, and thank you once again.
    Cheers, Paul
    Hi Paul,
    I am happy to inform you that the stats add-on is already half way through. I am currently testing it and still need to add nice graphs, but looks like it could be available sometime this month.
    Thanks
    Thanks excellent news, Thomas!
    I’ve noticed a small inconsistency (incompatibility?) when using your plugin with WooCommerce. Should I put the problem in the support area on the plugin page or would you prefer me to tell you about it here?
    It’s not a major problem at all, but it might be useful for you to look at see if an easy fix is possible.
    Cheers, Paul
