I have run into an issue with JetPack Blog Subscription trying to add it to my site. It is giving the following error message:

The “blog_subscription” block was affected by errors and may not function properly. Check the developer tools for more details.

Has anyone run into this before? How can I resolve this problem?

  • Hi @ricepondvillage

I’d be happy to advise on this, but I’d first want to know how you’ve been trying to add this block (from the customizer as a widget, or on a page through the Block Editor).

I’d also prefer if you shared your site URL so we can take a look, if you wish to remain private, you can reach out to us here instead and mention this thread.

    Hi @muffinpeace

I have attempted to add the Jetpack Blog Subscription through Appearance > Widgets as a block in the footer. I am using the default Twenty-Twenty-One theme without customizations. The website address is: ricepondvillage.com

You may notice a subscribe link in the primary menu (in the header). Since I could not get Jetpack Blog Subscription I temporarily added this form. Ideally, I would like to add the Jetpack Blog Subscription on a Page (if possible) and/or in the footer.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Instead of adding it from Appearance > Widgets, could you please go to Appearance > Customize > Widgets and then add the subscription form? Screenshot: https://d.pr/i/lKLzsJ

    Hi @bizanimesh,

I tried Appearance > Customize > Widgets and it unfortunately gave an error that said “Unable to save due to 1 invalid setting.” It seems there is a setting somewhere that isn’t set right.

Under JetPack > Discussion, I have the following enabled:

Let visitors subscribe to new posts and comments via email
Enable the “subscribe to site” option on your comment form
Enable the “subscribe to comments” option on your comment form

Under JetPack Subscription Settings, I have enabled:

    Follow Blog
    Follow Comments

Clearly, I am missing something, somewhere. Any ideas?

    Hi there

Can you share a screenshot of the settings on the widget itself?

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, here are a few free options:

    Hi @drawmyface,

Below please find several merged screenshots of the steps taken and the settings. I also deactivated and reactivated JetPack, which changed the color of the widget icons from green to black.

You will notice that I get a spinning icon for the JetPack Blog Subscription block and the error message “Unable to save due to 1 invalid setting.”
