  • Hey there,

Are you referring to the “View Certificate” link from the “My Courses” page as a student would see the page?

If so is it that you’re viewing a blank screen? Can you view the certificate by editing it as an admin?

Is this a course that you configured a long time ago or was it a course you’ve recently created.

    Thanks,

    Hi thomasplevy,

Yes, I am referring to the “View Certificate” link from the “My Courses” page as a student.

When I click on it, it opens a new window with a blank screen. Even as an admin I am not able to view or preview the certificate.

I created this course couple of weeks back. It is locally hosted site within our office network.

    Thanks,

    Hey Shamit,

It sounds like it could be a PHP error if you are seeing a completely blank screen. Can you check out our guide for debugging white screens and php errors at https://lifterlms.com/docs/how-to-debug-a-white-screen/ and post your results. It would also be helpful if you could post your LifterLMS System report (https://lifterlms.com/docs/how-to-use-the-lifterlms-system-report/).

Also please ensure you’re on the latest version of LifterLMS (v2.2.1) as we’ve recently released some improvements to our Certificates. Details of the certificate related data are available at https://blog.lifterlms.com/whats-new-lifterlms-2-2-0/ if you haven’t already updated.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful without some clear error messages. I’m fairly blind and I can’t recreate a certificate issue like this locally.

    Thanks Thomas Plevy,

I’ll go through the provided documents and will post my results before closing this thread/topic.

    Hey Shambit,

I’m going to wait on attempting any further reproduction until you can provide an error message to accompany your white screen.

Thanks for this information so far as it will be useful in the ultimate resolution but I really still do need an error message!

    Thanks,

So, I checked your link https://lifterlms.com/docs/how-to-debug-a-white-screen/

And did what was advised to get a debug report. My question – “Where will I see that debug error?” Any help would be great !!

    Thread Starter shamitbhardwaj

    (@shamitbhardwaj)

Is it possible that my theme is blocking it? I am using Astrid by athemes.

    Hey there shamibthardwaj,

I’ve determined that the issue you’re experiencing has to do with your theme’s “preloader” functionality. It masks our certificate content. The certificate content is there but it’s hidden behind the preloader.

I figured out how to resolve this via LifterLMS but it requires updating several files and I need to thoroughly test the issue before I can release a solution that doesn’t simultaneously break functionality across other themes.

That said, if you can add the following to a custom css file (try https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-custom-css/ plugin if you don’t have a CSS area already or you don’t know how to add custom css via a child theme) you should be able to get your certificates working today. When we release a better fix in the next few days you can remove the CSS.

    single-llms_certificate .preloader,
    .single-llms_my_certificate .preloader { display: none !important; }

    Hey kellerpt,

This is no doubt a theme conflict. However in order to resolve theme compatibility issues with premium (paid) WordPress themes we require users to submit feature requests via our feature request form at https://lifterlms.com/contact. Please submit a feature request and provide a link to this thread and we’ll get the feature prioritized as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    Hi Thomas Plevy,

Sorry for my late response was away for couple of days.

Thanks for your support. You’ve been a great help and yes the solution of adding custom CSS did work. ??

    Sincerely,
    Shamit

Great to hear! Let us know if you need any additional help!
