Hey before anything else – I would like to say thank you very much for making this plugin – you are a savior!

I’m having some difficulty; for whatever reason the conversion from .PNG to WEBP seems to be somewhat random. If you look at my website – some images are in webp and some are not. I have checked all the “relevant/accurate” tick boxes in plugin settings I believe:

Hey sorry for being unclear let me try and re-phrase myself.

    1) Server admins listened to what you said and implemented the solution.
    2) The solution resulted in a new problem – “rewrites_cached” (it was shown on your plugin page). After doing some Google research one guy said that Cloudfare’s caching was interfering with the process and that’s why I was getting rewrites_cached error so I disabled Cloudfare’s caching temporarily and went back to your plugin page.
    3) I refreshed the plugin page – VOILA! NO MORE ERRORS DISPLAYED!
    4) I used “Force convert all images again” on your plugin page to see if it would finally convert all my .PNG/.JPG to webp.
    5) (Previously before any issues some files were randomly getting converted) but after doing step 4 and force-converting them again – it basically made even the images which used to be .webp before back to .jpg/.png again.

To put it simply – after I did step 4 – it made ALL of my images back to .jpg/.png

@testingmoon Is your website up and running now? Can you give me the URL so I can check it?

So I’m not entirely sure what’s going on at the moment but before I took action myself (on Cloudflare to take care of that rewrites_cached issue) I sent a support ticket to my server provider. They took some sort of action which in turn resulted in them messing something up. The site is down at the moment and I’m trying to get them to restore whatever the hell they did….

@testingmoon When it starts to work, do the conversion of all images again and let me know please, I will check what is going on with WebP.

    Hey Mateusz,

So…. My website is back and I just tried to force update again and I immediately get this error now:

An error occurred while connecting to REST API. Please try again.

@testingmoon Set the generation of friendly links in the administration panel, in the Settings -> Permalinks tab.

    Hey Mateusz,

I feel bad for asking you so many questions and for being so ignorant but is this what you are referring to?

What did you mean by “Set the generation of friendly links”? Is this not suitable (post name)? Does it need to be Custom structure?

@testingmoon Your settings are correct. Just click “Save changes” again.

Well… I saved changes but still no luck:

@testingmoon It looks like you are blocked from accessing the REST API in WordPress. You have error HTTP 403 (Forbidden).

In that case, log out of the website, log in again and go to the plugin settings, and restart the conversion.

Hey Mateusz.. Ah.. It never ends.

Tried your solution 3 times – one without anything, my 2nd attempt was with “force” option (tickbox).

My last resort was clear cache/cookies – same thing.. Keep getting that damn error.

    Plugin Author Mateusz Gbiorczyk

    (@mateuszgbiorczyk)

@testingmoon Unfortunately, I have no more ideas. The error concerns the authorization of the built-in REST API in WordPress. My plug only use this solution, so I do not know why it stopped working.

Hey so I just checked this website and… https://meowapps.com/fix-wordpress-rest-api/

My wp-json is full of info/details so the API itself should be working.

I am currently backing up my website and I will then de-activate the Security plugin which may be the root cause of all problems (according to the website above at least).
