Hey before anything else – I would like to say thank you very much for making this plugin – you are a savior!

I’m having some difficulty; for whatever reason the conversion from .PNG to WEBP seems to be somewhat random. If you look at my website – some images are in webp and some are not. I have checked all the “relevant/accurate” tick boxes in plugin settings I believe:

@testingmoon I’m sorry. Unfortunately, I have no idea what could be causing this problem. It can be a theme, a different plugin, but also a server.

This is the basic functionality of the plugin and if there was a problem with it, other people would also report the problem. So for my part, there is nothing else I can do.

Hey so good news to a degree… That REST API issue has been resolved and I was able to use your “convert all images” feature – it took a couple of minutes and this time I believe it converted all of the images (not some random ones).

HOWEVER – these changes somehow were not implemented. When I check the source of the images on the live website – they’re still in .png/.jpg

Okay this is so odd… https://i.imgur.com/T3HiNTm.png

Whenever I use “via .htaccess” option – it basically never replaces the .jpg/.png images on the website but IT DOES convert the images to .webp (I deleted all the previously converted ones via FTP and I just checked it again – the .webp images are there!!!)

When I use “Pass Thru” option – it’s always the same random few that get replaced on the web page.

Let me give you an example below:
Say I had 10 images on my main page – if I was using “Pass Thru” option I would basically see 2-3 of them as .webp now (but they all get converted on FTP – only some of them replace those .jpg/.pngs) and it’s always the same random ones – so it’s not completely random there’s some logic to it.

If however I was using “via .htaccess” option – none of the 10 .png/jpg images would get replaced with .webp

@testingmoon From what I can see, everything on your website is working properly:

I can see you are using via .htaccess mode at the time I checked this out.

Huuuh… I am utterly confused but yes what you said is accurate – IT IS working. Jesus christ lol (after clearing my own cache fully and site itself).

When I was checking to see if it was working – I was simply right clicking the images and opening them in new tabs and checking their extensions/links. Previously the random images were associated with the uploads-webpc folder/link so I was looking into whether any of those images had it – they did not.

Anyway I am hoping that all of these issues have been resolved (as in no more issues in the future and any new images get converted automatically). Thanks a lot for your help on this I really appreciate it.

@testingmoon The plugin does not change the URLs, therefore the URLs will remain the same. But images in WebP format are loaded. Please read the plugin FAQ, especially the “How to check if plugin works?” question. There you will find an explanation of why this is so.
