    Hey,

my problem is the format of the date.

I set it in my MailChimp like this: DD/MM/YYYY

But every time when I add the Date field to my Form Builder, everything is okay, but after I update my Form, it changes to MM/DD/YYYY !!!

The problem is, that it’s a German site. So the people will type in for example 1th of October like this 1.10.2015 and what my list in MailChimp will receive is 10th of January 2015.

I hope you understand my problem.

The best solution for me would be if I even would be able to change the appearance of the Date in the Form, I would like to change “/” into a dot “.” so the Date looks like this: 01.10.2015

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards

jiGg4 aka Anthony J. Sherrill Jr.

    Hey Anthony,

I am going to look into this issue now. In previous versions I don’t believe that we provided an easy way to format dates or localize them on the front end of the site.

I have been working on a new patch, 6.0.3.8 , which takes into account the date formatting for our international users. I will take a look at the above mentioned issues and get them included in our new release which should be coming out at some point before the weeks end.

After a quick test, I was able to replicate the issue on my end. There was a hidden field that was not being generated, and thus causing the date format to not save properly. So the next time it was referenced, there was nothing saved in the database and it defaulted to MM/DD/YYYY. In the new patch that I will be releasing tomorrow or Friday, this issue will be resolved.

In the meantime, I am going to be working on a method for localizing the dates and the datepicker on the front end of the site.

I will report back here shortly as I continue to make progress.

Thank you for taking the time and reporting the issue, Anthony!

    Hey Evan,

thanks for your quick and professional answer!

I’m glad that you been able to replicate my problem.

Happy to hear, that there will be a fix directly the commings days. I was worried that I need to find a new opt-in-plug-in since I’m actually think that your plug-in is all I need for my page. But the date-thing is really important for me.

But due to your answer, I will wait a fed days.

    Thanks a lot!

Looking forward to hear again from you!

    Best regards,

    Hi jiGg4,

It will certainly be coming before then. I have been working tirelessly on this new release, and I’m just waiting on some user testing to be complete before I push anything out to the repository.

Hopefully that will be before the end of today.

    Hey Anthony,

The patch just went through and is up in the www.ads-software.com repo. You should get an update notification in the dashboard at anytime tonight. If you go to ‘Dashboard > Updates’ it should pop up immediately.

Please let us know if the issue is now resolved on your end, when you get a chance to test.

Thanks for your patience while I had a chance to work out a patch for this!

After I send my post, the patch was available.

Unfortunately the problem still exist. Should I delete the whole plug-in in reinstall it? Does that maybe help? What do you think?

Is there a way to send you screenshots?

    (@eherman24)

    Hey Anthony,

You shouldn’t need to remove the plugin. The update should have taken care of things.

Did you try removing and re-adding date field to the form builder? When you add the field to the form builder, the data should be pulled from MailChimp.

When you do that, is the date initially correct? And then you save and it changes?

You can upload screenshots to a third party image sharing site and share the link here. Unfortunately there is no way to attach images to these forums.

Right, I did it exactly like that:

    1) Remove the field from the builder
    2) Readd the field to the builder
    3) Check if the date is correct DD/MM/YYYY
    4) Save the builder, look again, date is changed to MM/DD/YYYY

Also check the front-end on my homepage, it takes the date the wrong way. If I type “1th of October” it saves “10th of January”

Okay, I try to upload screenshots. ??

    Thread Starter jiGg4

    (@jigg4)

Okay just uploaded the screenshot to the page where I use your Plug-In:

7 screenshots, starting from top to button

    1) The three field I use: Email, Name, Date
    2) That the date form which comes after saving
    3) This time I even deleted all fields
    4) Added all fields new
    5) That’s how the date form looks like after I add the date field to the form
    6) After saving, the date changed
    7) That’s on my frontage, and probably the way my users will fill in the Date (european style) and the will mess up my whole list, cause all my automatons are based on the date!

    Plugin Author Evan Herman

    (@eherman24)

    Hey Anthony,

That is quite strange. I can’t seem to replicate things on my end. I just downloaded a fresh copy of the plugin – and set up a new form on MailChimp with a dd/mm/yyyy format. I then added that field to my form, updated the form and things are still dd/mm/yyyy.

Maybe give things a re-try today? It’s possible the API cache had some old data stored in it, but I don’t think that would have really caused an issue here.

In regards to the date on the frontend, If you go to Settings > General, towards the bottom there is a ‘Date’ section. What is the text that’s in the ‘Custom’ field (last radio button)? On my end, I have F j, Y – which the datepicker is localizing as 30/01/16, in the ‘Date’ field when a user selects todays date.

    Thanks,
    Evan
