• UPDATED REVIEW: (Changed from 1 star to 4)

The plugin offered here on www.ads-software.com is great and works to expectation.

For transparencies sake, this plugin is a port of Flipping Book Gallery – a fine one at that.

I would however like to illustrate caution to any users thinking about paying for the upgrade on the plugin. We had paid for the upgrade and are still yet to hear form the developer. Other posts suggest that this problem is ongoing and that the developer may not be honouring the propositions of additional features that are outlined on their website.

    • PREVIOUS REVIEW:

The demo version of this plugin is 5 star worthy, however we went a step up and decided to get the paid version with some enhanced features and have yet to receive the product. This plugin is simply written to utilize this software: https://flippingbook.com/
Go ahead and use the demo version, but I would not recommend getting the paid version.

That’s not really a conversation for these forums or a review here. If you have a problem with that vendor then please take it up on their site.

    Jan,

I do agree with you for the most part for the preservation of community standards, so perhaps my review is worded incorrectly.

I believe there is value in offering the WordPress community our experience with this plugin and the options that are available as a part of this plugin for the reason that this plugin is offered within the WordPress community.

Would I be incorrect in assuming this is valid? and if so, why?

The concern I have is that commercial products aren’t supported in these forums. Leaving a review based on your customer experience doesn’t really talk to the code or plugin here in this repository.

The exception to that is when the plugin is an interface to a service (free or paid for). Then that plugin is software as a service and it is legitimate to talk about that service.

SaaS plugins sometimes makes my head spin.

I don’t believe that this plugin is SaaS but it may be as I have not installed it myself. But I can’t imagine why a gallery plugin can’t run completely by itself on your own installation. ??

Reviews are subjective and ideally a review would be about what you liked in the plugin, what you didn’t like or liked less and what improvements you would suggest if any. That doesn’t mean you can’t talk about other aspects of the plugin and you really did say “The demo version of this plugin is 5 star worthy”.

My being not sure isn’t a bad thing and your review stands. ??

    Jan,

forgive me as I now have a little more clarity in understanding the aspects of plugin software that this forum discusses.

I now understand that the star rating should reflect the plugin as downloaded on www.ads-software.com. This is the first time I have ever engaged on this site, I will look to see if I can change my rating to 3 or 4 to better reflect my experience with the Free Version of this plugin.

I would still like to reiterate my caution to other users that even though this plugin offered here is great, a fine WordPress port of Flipping Book, the plugin author does not seem to honour the promises for service and support outlined on the plugin’s site.

All that being said, I feel value added features are fine to promote in a plugin, but it is frustrating to deal with developers who promote these services in a plugin available on www.ads-software.com, harvest the community to achieve monetary gain, and exploit it in a sense by taking advantage of the communities’ credibility to facilitate business.

Thank you for helping me understand the www.ads-software.com community better. ??

    Oh,

I had no idea that the review went into the support threads, or maybe I have just been watching “Children of Men” a little too intently.
