• I am completely agitated (to say it very nicely) with the new editing system. First off, it harms my eyes; with the content that I write and write about, it is not doable.

Second, it’s crammed in the center of the block, proving it to be even more difficult to write, upload photos, and edit. When I upload a photo, I have to cut and paste it in the proper place, as it posts it at the top.

Third, it is unappealing and time-consuming. It’s a headache.

I’d like to switch back to the classic classic editor. This new layout is a joke.

For the printer that this new system is named after, even he would find it atrocious.

The techs and developers need to correct this mess otherwise a lot of WP clients and outlets will be leaving.

    Hi @evelyn-jean,

I’ll try to help if I can:

First off, it harms my eyes; with the content that I write and write about, it is not doable.

Sorry to hear that. Is there anything specifically about it that makes it hard to use? Any feedback is useful. The best help I can offer here is that there are a few options in the menu in the top-right corner of the screen that help change the appearance (the icon looks like three vertical dots). There’s ‘Unified Toolbar’ which moves the block toolbar to the top of the screen, and there’s also a full-screen mode.

Second, it’s crammed in the center of the block, proving it to be even more difficult to write, upload photos, and edit. When I upload a photo, I have to cut and paste it in the proper place, as it posts it at the top.

Hmm, this sounds like a bug that was identified with the classic block in gutenberg (it should be solved in the next update):
    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/10509

By default, when editing a post that was created in the classic editor, that content is displayed within a classic block. It’s a way to keep Gutenberg backwards compatible. I’d recommend testing the editor out with a new post first to get an understanding of it, hopefully you’ll see the user interface is a bit different.

It’s unbelievable that I am now using a system where I have to create a new block for a number list…. Or when I paste multiple paragraphs of text it puts them into multiple blocks. How do I wrap text around an image now?

Its like they have gone back 25 or 30 years and technology.

Were people actually complaining about the old editor? I really do not understand this change.

sure I can use the classic editor but knowing how things are, I’m sure that will go and wake up in a couple of years.

the block editor does not replace the classic editor. It has its place but should not be the default editor. People like simplicity. Not everybody is technical. People do not want to create blocks to make a basic WordPress post.
