• Write a word.
    ‘Link’

Highlight the word ‘Link’ and click the icon on the editor

    Popup appears. Enter address
‘Link’ is now underlined and is a link.

Now – how do I STOP the link? If I continue typing on the same line it just makes a longer link.
    So Link becomes Link__________________________________
I can press Return then Backspace to stop it but that’s …. annoying.

Or am I asking too much or seeing something that is blindingly obvious to everyone else?

Immediately click the broken or unlink button.

    AAAHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ??

I’m testing weblog clients and Performancing doesn’t perform here at all – which is why I checked 2.0
And I can’t decide whether the above makes sense or not – but I have the answer – thanks Kaf

(Blogdesk links what is highlighted and only what is highlighted by the way..)

It *doesn’t* make sense. The link should automatically be unlinked at the end of the highlighted text. But I didn’t design it…

Usually if you write out the word after the link…

Such as in, “Check out this link if you’re interested.” Where “link” is the only word to be used as an actual hyperlink… then you highlight only the word, click the button, etc.

OR – Just put a space after the word before highlighting it.

    Pain in the butt? Yep.
    Easy solution? Yep.
    Could it be better? Yep.

I want to link and keep typing – so the behaviour which I described and is common to the RTE and Performancing is something that drives me nuts. I don’t want to type an extra space, roll the cursor back, highlight, link, move the cursor forward…. I’d rather type out <a href=” every time.

It’s little touches like this that make me mad – which isn’t so much a go at editors as showing just how picky I really am ??

I’m with you, podz – I wasn’t discrediting your frustration at all… ?? Just offering up a temporary “habitual” solution.
