I just upgraded to today’s new version of Gutenberg and I can no longer save articles!

Is there some way I can remove this upgrade? Help, I need to get back to work.

    Hello,

I am also having the same issue. Unable to save and when I save a draft the plugin crashes and offers me a recovery of the article.

    Hi @moviedebuts @lenglemetz @editingcorp – thanks for the reports!

To help replicate the issue, could each of you please do the following testing and report back on your results, in one comment each:

    • What version of WordPress are you using?
    • Does this happen when trying to save new posts/pages, or updating existing posts/pages, or both?
    • If you deactivate the standalone Gutenberg plugin active, do the errors go away?
    • Is the issue present with all your plugins temporarily deactivated? You can use the Health Check plugin’s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one (while still in troubleshooting mode) to find the culprit.
    • Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Three? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this.

I’d recommend just deactivating the standalone Gutenberg plugin. ?? It’s neither required nor recommended for production sites, you will still have access to the core block editor without it.

    Hello,

    • I have version 6.1.1 of WordPress.
    • The problem occurs when I edit an old draft.
    • If I deactivate the Gutenberg plugin, I no longer have any issues (the same goes for link editing, yes I have both problems).

I won’t have the opportunity to test health-checker today, but to give you an idea, I am using the Hello theme with the Elementor & Elementor Pro plugin. Woocommerce is also installed and operational on the site.

Hi @lenglemetz @moviedebuts @editingcorp Could you please let me know if this problem (“the editor has encountered an unexpected error.”) is fixed in Gutenberg 14.8.1? (Related GitHub issue.)

If not, please do feel free to keep Gutenberg deactivated, as it’s not needed to use the block editor.

The developers are still looking into the missing-link issue separately.

Gutenberg 14.8.2 has been released and should solve the missing-link issue. Updating to this version should solve that problem, and the “unexpected error” issue was fixed in version 14.8.1.

Since both issues mentioned here should be fixed after installing the latest Gutenberg release, I’ll mark this thread as resolved, but feel free to start a new thread if anyone has other questions or issues.
