    Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘../wp-config.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /homepages/36/d161148513/htdocs/blog/admin.php on line 5

    So what do I need to do? (One thing I noticed–after unzipping, all of the contents I uploaded were just files–no subdirectories (as I’ve seen pictured in books about WordPress)). For instance there is no wp-admin subdirectory. Is something wrong there?

    The site I’m uploading my files to (and what will eventually be the blog) is https://www.jerrypettit.com/blog

    Thanks in advance.

    Ahem…

    In connection with doing something else, I deleted all of my cookies.

    Now I can’t log in. I just get some kind of programming script when I try to…

    Jerry

    What sort of script?
    You should get a login page like when you first logged in.

    Do you have an email with your details?
    Can you see the file ‘wp-login.php’ ?

    Your wp-login.php file is being redirected to an xml file.

    I don’t know why it would do that. Have you edited any of your php files?

    This is what I get when I click “log in” now–a screen that says (in its entirety):

    <?xml version=”1.0″ ?>
    – <!– generator=”wordpress/2.0.2″
    –>
    – <opml version=”1.0″>
    – <head>
    <title>Links for Jerry’s Blog</title>
    <dateCreated>Mon, 24 Apr 2006 00:02:10 GMT</dateCreated>
    </head>
    <body />
    </opml>

    **I haven’t touched any file, but DID delete all of my cookies. I can see the file ‘wp-login.php’ on my server when I use my FTP program (FileZilla). Its size is 2353 now, rather than the 10,000 or so it was when I installed this morning…

    Did a 4th total delete and reinstall and continue to get this message:

    There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

    But there IS a wp-config.php file…

    Jerry just visited your blog. Saw that you got it working. and the login page worked fine. You are definitly facing a problem with files being corrupted on upload.

    Your best bet would be to find a different internet connection if you keeping having trouble.

    Actually, I just did a 5th clean reinstall and when I run install.php I still get the same “missing wp-config.php” message.

    On the other hand, I CAN log in now–but at the top of my screen I’m getting:

    Warning: array_keys(): The first argument should be an array in /homepages/36/d161148513/htdocs/blog/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 1313

    Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /homepages/36/d161148513/htdocs/blog/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 1313

    Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /homepages/36/d161148513/htdocs/blog/wp-admin/menu.php on line 8

    If I just stumble along as is–those error messages at the top don’t seem to be “doing anything”–am I going to be okay?

    I’m surprised that I’ve deleted everything 5 times, but my original blog message has survived. How does THAT happen?

    Jerry

    Well your database has never been changed. So your original post stays the same.

    Have you re-downloaded the zip file from the wordpress site? Sometimes things get corrupted on download.

    You might also want to check with your Host to see of others have had similar problems.

    Can you login to a shell on your account? If so you could probably download the files directly to your server.

    Finally you can probably get by with those errors, but something really weird is happening on your server, so you might just be asking for more trouble down the road.

    If you feel like giving it another go, then, if I were you, I would do a COMPLETE reinstall. meaning start from scratch. Download the files again and install them to a totally different directory with a totally new database.

    If you still have problems, then the internet gods are just not smiling on you dude. Contact your host and complain, see if they can do something. (like install the files for you!?)
