• You have to pay for it to be responsive and to even work on mobile devices. That makes this plugin 100% useless unless you pay.

@tim92109 – Granted the NextGEN Plus and NextGEN Pro extensions offer our NextGEN Pro Lightbox which is much more responsive than the standard libraries bundled with NextGEN Gallery as a convenience but the rest of the “Basic” displays are responsive in their layouts … and you are always welcome to use your own Lightbox Effect with NextGEN Gallery if you are not satisfied with the bundled libraries, too.

@tim92109 – Hi and thanks for the feedback. I want to second/emphasize what Cais has already said. NextGEN’s basic gallery displays *are* responsive. As examples, you can go to the following links and try resizing your browser:

    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-slideshow-gallery/
    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-thumbnail-gallery/
    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-imagebrowser-gallery/
    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/basic-compact-album/

Cais also talked about working lightboxes (the pop-ups that show your main images when you click on thumbnails within a thumbnail gallery).

Is there something specific you are seeing that’s not responsive? We’d love to ensure that reviews, whether positive or not, are at least accurate on our functionality.

    Thanks in advance! (Erick)

@tim92109 – Just following up on some old reviews and came back to this.

Given that our basic galleries are responsive and work on mobile, we’re wondering if you might consider revising your review? A one-start review is rather punitive unless there’s really something there to warrant it.

    Thanks! (Erick)

When you say that your galleries work on mobile, is that something that has changed since my review? As far as 1 star… it’s definitely warranted if your plugin doesn’t work on mobile. It might as well not work at all since over half typical site visitors are coming from mobile devices. It’s beeen 5 months so I really don’t remember the issue. I looked and the links you gave and they work on mobile. I’ll add a star to the rating. The next time I create a WordPress site, I’ll install the plugin and give it another chance… and a new review & rating. But that will have to suffice for now. Thanks for taking the time to check out your reviews. At least it shows you care unlike a lot of other ext. developers.

@tim92109 – thanks for reading and adjusting. Much appreciated.

The galleries have always generally worked on mobile. One exception was our basic flash slideshows (because they’re flash). We removed those recently partly for mobile incompatibility as well as some other reasons.

We’ve worked view a few bugs over time, mostly related to cross browser compatibility. So for example, you test something and find it works on all but, say one browser type on one phone version. Between mobile and desktop, different operating system versions, and different browers, there’s an ongoing battle to ensure everything behaves consistently across browsers.

Thanks again. And, of course, we’d love to see you give it another try in the future. (Erick)
