Seeing one of the leading forces behind Pods (Scott) leave Fields API and have had enough of M. drama I wonder if should I choose Pods as a tool for my next projects or if this is a nonissue. I don’t mind if you move Pods to your website and change licensing or whatnot. All I want the know is would this project continue to live or if should I skip to Meta Box.

Was never a fan of ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) anyway.

Now when they became SCF (Stollen Custom Fields – pun intended)  I am not going to judge you given the circumstances surrounding that person which cause everyone to rethink and reiterate their ideas. Also, I don’t mind paying a small fee for an annual license.

But I would like to know what to plan. If possible.

It is reasonable to expect Pods development and community to continue.

The Pods core plugin has 13,882 commits to date.

The project is supported through a non-profit and the Friends of Pods community.

Friends of Pods receive discounts to various services in thanks for their support.

Pods is something I’ve invested a large part of my life into. I put thousands of hours of my time and lots of my own personal money in pushing it forward over the past 16 years.

Pods is not going to stop. But we can’t be sure what the future holds for .org or whether Pods will be allowed to continue under our control here. SCF sets a very bad precedent and many developers are worried about that regardless of the unique circumstances of the ongoing MM legal battle.

We are expanding our long term outlook beyond what’s going on here so we’d love you to stay and continue using Pods. We’ll take care of you.

To also clarify what Paul said, Pods Foundation is not a non-profit for tax purposes, it is kind of an in between as it’s filed as a non-profit with Texas but not at the federal level.

It’s one reason I did all of the Pods Pro add-ons through my company SKC Development.

I’m also committed to licensing Pods Framework as GPL and keeping it free for use, that won’t change.

Thank you for your message. I was concerned after seeing your response on Slack about your account being locked down etc. I was actually for real saddened. And worried at the same time.

Your response came as a relief and I truly hope that the waves caused by the storm in W world will stop causing chaos and everything will eventually start to be as it was – nice environment to be in. Surely for someone like you and many other developers – it mus have been a nightmare so to speak.

    Thanks again.
