The latest beta from GitHub is good for testing – Thank You!

Hi John,

I have just tested the latest version from github.
The page admin doesnt show the language selector anymore, so the title and the content are not splited. I thought it was because i also use qtranslate-slug so i desactivated it but it doesnt pull back the selector on top of the form.
I dont see any JS error in the console, neither as php error with all debug option activated.

Hi @bteboul: -x is not supposed to split title lines and content, it uses Language Switching Buttons instead. Did you see those? Is this the first time you tried -x? Could you specify the steps to reproduce your problem under “Twenty Fifteen” theme and -x the only plugin? Which exactly page, possibly screenshots etc. What you described does not match anything we have seen so far. Thanks a lot.

I have used qtranslate for many years on a lot of website, and followed clothely your project since you forked it to have an updated bug free version.
The step :
I have just updated qtranslate-x v 2.9.6 with the package from github so 2.9.7.4 if i understand correctly extension.
Then i went to pages admin and edited one page.
What i have with the 2.9.6 version Edit page

The theme used is twenty twelve but it was working well before this update as you can see on the 2 images.

Hi Bruno: yes, we want to make a bug free version, but I did not realized how many bugs were in former qTranslate ?? I made it work for myself first, but then people reported so many cases which I never touched for my own purposes. I believe that this round, we will have, at the end, something resembling a stable version, since many issues were resolved. Unfortunately, during this period I learned about more imperfections and performance problems, which I would like to also address in the future.

Currently, I am waiting for final confirmations from a few volunteered testers before releasing it. You are one of them now too. Thank you.

From your images, I can tell that java script did not load for whatever reason. I really do not know why, unless I login as an admin. On 2.9.7b , there were a problem like this for sites which had home and site urls different, but that was presumably resolved. Could you try to toggle option “Editor Raw Mode” with saving it back and forth a couple of times, maybe something got out of sync after trying 2.9.7b? If you run a test site, you could make a copy for me with admin login. You may sent info to me at qtranslateteam at gm ail d co m, if you decide to do so.

I have tested to change editor raw mode save and change it back then save again 3 or 4 time but i couldnt get the langage switcher back on top of the form. I also tried to desactivate all other plugin i had on the website but that didnt work either.

I’ll upload a test version during the weekend to give you tha access so you can check yourself if you see something wrong.

I have also tested the plugin on a fresh install and it seems to be working great. If it is not a conflict with my plugin maybe i’ll look in the theme to unplug some js component i added but they usually dont interfer with backoffice as long as they are only loaded on the front from function.php.

2.9.7.8 is now the latest with considerable new changes, mostly related to fixing language detection on AJAX requests and per-domain URL modification mode.

Thank you, @fotkin, so much for making this video. This is the best way to explain the problem. Yes, this cosmetic issue is known. It has low priority, since it does not hurt functionality and only appears when entries are empty. We will fix it as soon as everything else is perfect.

i get lots of database errors with the latest dev version.

and are excerpts supposed to work in the editor?? because the lang switch doesn’t affect the excerpt field…
