Hi guys, I’m the author of bitcoinway plugin and after developing it as one of the most secure solutions to accept bitcoins I had to engage in other work, mostly fulltime.

I tried to do support in my free time, but things started progressively fall apart as MtGox went down the drain and WooCommerce updated their plugin again which broke everything.

Which leaves me at the fork of the road – either abandon the plugun completely or abandon my fulltime work and work on a plugin development and support fulltime.

As it currently stands – I do not have enough time to rewrite the plugin and support it the way it deserves and the way you guys deserve.

I am currently trying to collect resources from the interested parties that would allow me to take a long self-paid vacation to fix things completely and release the new, more powerful and more flexible bitcoinway online store solution.

If you have any ideas or would like to pitch-in – please contact me directly: [email protected]

  • Thanks for letting us know. I used it for some time and am also a coder. I was wondering if their would be a way to just patch it for the woo 2.1 changes. I started to dig in a bit but as you haven’t had much time to get back to it. One thing to note their are other pretty good exchanges to pull data from, I think I added coinbase or bitpay for one client using this plugin which I could provide the code for.

how about a btc donation box? Also does this require a huge rewrite to fix it for woo 2.1?

I’d love to see a % donation option in the plugin set to 2% by default (ie. 2% of sales in Bitcoin go to you), but it needs fixing for 2.1 and an option to get rates from Bitpay and Bitocinaverage.com as a minimum.

I added in bitstamp to the code i was using until the woo 2.1 blew everything else up.

    Hi All,

Good news – with the help of a generous person I finding real resources to get back to this project and fix everything to make it to work with the latest version of WooCommerce as well as fixing other issues.

I will be working on this during the upcoming or week after and make an announcement about the progress.

Additionally to that I am considering ways to make sure the plugin will be continuously supported beyond that as well.

    That’s very good news!

Let me know if you need help testing / documenting / translating when the time comes.

    Hi, such great news!

During the last week I tried to make the plugin work again, by changing all the MtGox API calls to the Kraken.com API instead (that part was successful, but there must have been other changes in woocommerce and/or wordpress as well, as now when I click on checkout the cart gets suddenly empty and there it ends, see https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/woocommerce-bitcoin-checkout-wont-work?replies=3).

Anyhow, if I can help with anything let me know!

Hey there @gateway – would you be interested in sharing how you added bitstamp to the program? Was it working? I use bitstamp and would love to add exchange data to the plugin since it’s default is the gox prices…

It would be very helpful if you got it up and running to share since I’m at a dead end and want to avoid merchant tools that take a cut.

    Thanks in advance!

Hey @r1979 – same question – do you mind sharing how you went about this so I can? or send me the appropriate files?

My site still works with the plugin, only the amount is off – I’ve been keeping my installation on an older revision but my price ticker is off and you may have a potential solution I can use!

    Cheers!
